According to insiders from Android Authority, the major Google I/O event will take place no earlier than May 20. Meanwhile, Google is launching a show called “The Android Show,” where it introduces new features of the operating system, including potential functions for Wear OS 6—an operating system for smartwatches.
A recent leak about the One UI 8 Watch firmware has confirmed Samsung’s collaboration with Google on smartwatches based on Wear OS 6. In the latest analysis of the APK file for this OS, insiders discovered code strings for the “Raise wrist to talk” function, which had previously been mentioned in Google apps but was never officially announced. The settings app code for Wear OS 6 indicates that this function works in conjunction with the power button to summon the smart voice assistant: to activate the assistant, you will need to raise your wrist.
The code also includes limitations related to recording health data, screen inactivity, or the use of the speaker/microphone.
This new functionality will only be available to users of devices running Wear OS 6.
