Awarding Regalia to Bahityar Reyimbaevich Hojaniazov

On May 20, 2025, at the Russian Academy of Arts (Moscow, Prečistenka, 21), the award ceremony for the regalia was held in honor of Bahityar Reyimbaevich Khojaniazov—who has made a significant contribution to the visual arts of Turkmenistan and is a member of the Union of Artists of Turkmenistan—as an honorary foreign member of the Academy.

The solemn ceremony was conducted by the acting president of the Russian Academy of Arts, Vasily Zurabovich Tsereteli. The event was also attended by:

  • RAH’s First Vice-President, Viktor Grigorievich Kalinin,
  • RAH’s Vice-President, Tatiana Alexandrovna Kochemasova,
  • RAH’s Chief Scientific Secretary, Oleg Alexandrovich Koshkin,
  • RAH’s Vice-President, Vadim Alexandrovich Lyubetsky,
  • Head of the Foreign Relations Department at RAH, Sergiy Nugzariyevich Shagulashvili,

as well as staff from the Academy’s research and creative team.

Among the distinguished guests were: — Esen Muhammetovich Aydogdyew, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation; — Svetlana Konstantinovna Smirnova, Head and First Executive Secretary of the General Secretariat of the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations “Assembly of Peoples of Eurasia and Africa”; — Batyr Jumanyazovich Abdullayev, Chairman of the Council on Business Communications of the Assembly of Peoples of Eurasia and Africa.

Following this, the exhibition of the academic project “Faith – Heroism – Victory” was opened. This project, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, is on display in the exhibition halls of RAH at Prečistenka, 21, and is being implemented under the scientific supervision of Tatiana Alexandrovna Kochemasova.

Bahityar Reyimbaevich Khojaniazov is an outstanding master potter and ceramic artist from the Dashoguz region of Turkmenistan. He is the creator of unique ceramic works made by preserving ancient techniques.

The artist successfully undertakes large-scale projects to restore historical buildings, mausoleums, and other architectural monuments in Turkmenistan. His work is devoted to reviving unique examples of cultural heritage that testify to the region’s rich history.

The master has created a unique house-museum in the city of Kunya-Urgench, reminiscent of an old architectural structure, where numerous valuable ceramic exhibits have been collected. The museum showcases a variety of precious, intricate ceramic pieces.

Bahityar Reyimbaevich also actively teaches young artists, conducts master classes, and has opened a pottery school in the city of Kunya-Urgench, contributing to the preservation and continuation of traditional folk art and ancient pottery techniques.

His artistry has been recognized with numerous state and public awards, including winning a state-level competition in the “Best Master” category. He regularly participates in international exhibitions in the USA, Iran, Uzbekistan, and several other countries. His works are preserved in the Museum of the Emperor of Japan, in the Central Museum of Mashhad (Iran), and in private collections.
