In the first three months of 2025, Azerbaijan significantly increased its oil imports, with shipments from Kazakhstan rising by 45%.
The country’s energy sector saw foreign oil imports reach 419.5 thousand tons, with a total value of approximately 213 million dollars. This marks a notable increase compared to the first quarter of 2024: an additional 186.5 thousand tons (+1.8 times) and 79.9 million dollars (+1.6 times).
Specifically, Azerbaijan achieved significant growth in oil imports from two key sources: Russia – 377.7 thousand tons (+2.2 times) worth 190.3 million dollars (+2 times) Kazakhstan – 41.8 thousand tons (+45.1%) worth 22.6 million dollars (+19.4%)
This expansion is part of Azerbaijan’s strategy to strengthen its energy security and broaden regional cooperation. The increase in oil imports from Kazakhstan highlights the growing economic ties between the two nations.
Azerbaijan is actively working on diversifying oil and gas supplies in the Caspian region, implementing new infrastructure projects, and reinforcing partnerships. The rise in oil trade with Kazakhstan is expected to further enhance economic collaboration between the countries.
