Every year on June 3, Turkmenistan widely celebrates World Bicycle Day. To mark the occasion, a large-scale cycling event was held in Ashgabat, led by Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdymukhamedov.
The cycling event was also attended by Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ivan Volynkin and diplomats from the embassy.
This international holiday was officially declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2018 at Turkmenistan’s initiative. Its aim is to promote bicycles as an affordable and reliable means of transportation that encourages environmental sustainability and health maintenance.
Turkmenistan continues to organize various sporting events and initiatives to support the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and eco-friendly transport.
