On June 24, 2025, a meeting was held in the Mejlis of Turkmenistan between the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and a delegation led by Senator of the French Republic, Ms. Samantha Cazebonne.
During the meeting, the important role of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the relations established between the two countries in various fields was noted. The significance of the document signed during the official visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the French Republic, related to the modernization of the national education system, which will give a powerful impetus to the further dynamic development of multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and the French Republic and will increase the significance of the activities carried out in the country under the leadership of the Esteemed President to improve the national education system, educate and train young people with a broad worldview, capable of managing innovative technologies, was noted.
During the conversation, it was particularly emphasized that inter-parliamentary dialogue has become an important part of expanding the scope of cooperation between the two countries, and the functioning of interparliamentary friendship groups created on a bilateral basis expands opportunities for exchanging experience in legislative and parliamentary activities.
The parties also noted the importance of cooperation between the two countries in such areas as energy, water resources management, agriculture, infrastructure and urban development, archaeology, and the teaching of French.
In addition, it was noted that Turkmen youth are improving their education in higher educational institutions of the French Republic, and French is taught to students studying at the Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and at several institutions of secondary vocational education.
