The developers of the Firefox browser warned of possible problems with Intel Raptor Lake processors in the conditions of summer heat in Europe.
Mozilla programmer Gabriela Svelto, who is analyzing reports on the processors failures and connects them with one or other EU countries, said that Intel processors are very seriously suffering from the heat.
According to the engineer, the problems with synchronization and voltage in the Raptor Lake systems are aggravated when the temperature rises. This is a weak point of these processors in itself, and with a significant increase in the temperature in the room, the malfunctions are more frequent.
An error in the Raptor Lake family affected the Intel Core chips of the 13th and 14th generations for desktop computers. An incorrect microcode allowed chips to work with increased voltage, which led to malfunctions in the operation of the systems.
However, the most important thing – Intel, paying attention to the messages of Svelto, found that after the failure of the chip, degradation becomes irreversible.
To solve the problem, Intel extended a guarantee for touched processors up to 3-5 years.
“Raptor Lake systems are known with synchronization and voltage problems that exacerbate when temperature rises. The situation is so bad that we had to turn off the bot, who automatically sent reports about the failures, because he almost always found malfunctions from people with problematic systems, ”added Severto.
