Intel plans to dismiss more than 5,500 employees in the United States. This is due to financial difficulties and intensifying competition in the chips market, the media write. Most of all the dismissals are expected in California (1,935 people), Oregon (2,932 people) and Arizona (696 people).
Intel lags behind competitors such as Nvidia, Samsung and TSMC. While other companies are already producing chips using 3 Nm technology, Intel still has not reached the right level. This led to delays in the release of new products and a drop in sales.
In the first quarter of 2025, the company announced a loss of almost $ 887 million and a decrease in revenue by 3% compared to last year.
