The Ministry of Public Security of China announced its intention to join efforts with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technologies and other relevant authorities to tighten the standards in the field of assistance systems. The new rules will affect all stages of the development and implementation of these technologies.
Among the key measures are the obligatory conduct of complex tests and verification of emergency braking systems, retention in the strip and adaptive cruise control. The driver’s intervention in the work of assistants will be clearly determined, as well as the standards of rapid response during failures or a threat to security.
According to the authorities, the joint work of regulatory authorities will reduce the number of accidents related to the incorrect work of the “semi -autonomous” modes, and increase consumers’ trust in the innovative functions of modern cars. Additionally, the plans are to create a single database of inspections and incidents in order to identify weaknesses in the software and hardware solutions in time.
