The National Medical Research Center of Hematology of the Ministry of Health of Russia received a license from Roszdravnadzor for the production of biomedical cellular drugs. Among them are CAR-T drugs that can be used outside clinical trials, for the individual appointment of doctors.
CAR-T-therapy is used to treat cancer diseases, especially in cases where other methods do not help. Now the NMIC of hematology has become the first institution in the country to have all the necessary permits to create such drugs.
As explained by Apollinaria Bogolyubova-Kuznetsova, head of the center of the Center, the license allows you to develop not only one type of Car-T-drug, but also other cell products for rare and difficult cases.
The license also gives the right to treat patients according to the so -called “hospital exclusion” – when traditional methods do not work, and participation in clinical trials is impossible. The decision on such treatment is made by a medical consultation.
