The mobile operators of the Rostov region technically divided the transfer of voice traffic and mobile Internet. This allows residents of the region to remain in touch even with a temporary shutdown of the Internet, which is introduced due to the threat of drones.
As explained by the acting The Minister of Digital Development of the region Alexei Alekhin, previously vocal calls were transmitted through Internet channels. Disconnecting mobile Internet led to telephone failures. Now the operators reconfigured their networks by ensuring independent work of two services.
Such measures have become necessary because of the frequent attacks of the APU UPS, which use the basic mobile stations for guidance on targets. A temporary shutdown of the Internet helps to reduce this threat, while maintaining the possibility of phone calls.
Additionally, about 1 thousand points of collective access to Wi-Fi were deployed in the region. This allows residents to go online in specially equipped places when the mobile Internet is disconnected.
