In the latest version of Android Canary, the long-awaited opportunity appeared to launch graphic Linux applications directly in the Linux terminal. Previously, only text programs could be used in this terminal.
In the application there was a new “Display” button, which opens the graphic environment and displays the image from the Linux virtual machine to the Android screen. To start the graphics, you need to enter the Weston command – a standard display server that is already installed in the terminal.
In this environment, simple programs can be launched, for example, the Gedit text editor. Also, theoretically, you can run games such as Doom. For more smooth operation, you can turn on the hardware acceleration of graphics.
So far, the function is available only in the test version of Android Canary, and it is not known when it appears in stable versions.
