The press service of the Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU) reported that the university experts introduced a new line of uninterrupted food sources (UPS) for the oil and gas industry. The development is designed to protect equipment from interruptions in power supply.
In the industry, it is especially important to ensure the continuous operation of drilling rigs, pumps and other critically important equipment. Interruptions with electricity can lead not only to financial losses, but also to problems with the re-start of equipment due to high starting currents, the press service noted.
Scientists have developed three models of UPS with a capacity of 10, 30 and 60 KVA. Devices protect equipment from voltage jumps and can work from batteries when turning off electricity. Tests are now being conducted, which should confirm the reliability of the system in various operating conditions.
A feature of development is a modular design. This allows you to create universal solutions for different tasks without developing individual systems for each case. As part of the Priority 2030 program, work is underway on the control system for industrial UPSs with a capacity of up to 400 KVA.
