The cat was saved in St. Petersburg using a 3D scan of the key

31.07.2025

In St. Petersburg, technopark engineers used 3D scanning to make the key to the closed apartment in which one cat remained. This made it possible to save the animal without hacking the door and unnecessary damage.

The owner of the animal went on a business trip to St. Petersburg and did not leave anyone a duplicate of the keys to his apartment. He hoped to return quickly, but the trip suddenly dragged on. At this time, the pet was alone in a locked apartment without the opportunity to get help.

Specialists of the Center for Prototyping of Technopark St. Petersburg came to the rescue. Using three -dimensional scan technology, they created an exact digital key model in a few minutes. After that, the file was sent to the workshop for the manufacture of keys to the owner’s hometown, where a physical copy was made according to the model. The new key was handed over to a relative who was able to open the door.

According to representatives of the technopark, history shows how modern technologies can be useful in emergency and unpredictable situations.
