At the Russian University of Friendship of Peoples (RUDN), they presented the technology of digital avatars that could generate video lectures. Development was created by employees and students of the faculty of artificial intelligence of the university.
The system analyzes a short video with the voice of the teacher, after which it can create new lectures, preserving individual characteristics – the manner of speech, facial expressions and presentation style. As the rector of Rudn Oleg Yastrebov noted, the technology does not replace teachers, but simplifies the process of preparing materials.
To work with the avatar, it is enough to download the source video and the text for voice acting. The neural network forms a finished lecture, which looks like a teacher recorded by the teacher. Development already supports Russian, English and several other languages.
According to representatives of the university, the technology can be useful for online education, allowing teachers to save time on records of standard lectures.
