For the first time in five years, Openai released two artificial intelligence models with open scales-GPT-SOSS-120B and GPT-SOSS-20B.
They are already available for free download on the Huging Face platform. The models are focused on logical tasks, the use of tools and quick work even on the household “gland”.
The senior model GPT-SSS-120B can work on one NVIDIA video card, and the compact GPT-SSS-20B is launched even on a regular laptop with 16 GB of RAM. This does an advanced AI, accessible to almost everyone.
Important: this is not about the full open source code – like analogues, the models have no open training data. However, Openai provides models parameters, allowing them to freely use, modify and integrate into their projects.
The decision to release models with open weights is associated with the pressure of competitors, including Chinese laboratories like Deepseek AI. This was also facilitated by the call of the administration of Trump for greater openness in the American AI Industry.
