Recently, Nintendo launched a survey about the game preferences of Switch 2 users, but quickly removed it. The reason was the discontent of the fans: more and more games on the new console do not go on physical cartridges, but on the so-called cards-key cards. They look like ordinary cartridges, but do not contain the game itself – only a code for downloading.
Players are concerned: this means that you need the Internet to launch the game, and if the servers are disconnected someday, access to the purchased game can be lost. Speech cards deprive the main advantage of physical carriers-real game ownership. This, players believe, is more like a temporary license that can be lost.
Nintendo has already closed its online stores for WII U and 3DS, and there are no guarantees, something will not happen to Switch 2 in the future (albeit remote). Experts believe that cake cards are the next form of digital protection (DRM), “limiting the rights of the buyer.”
If gamers do not oppose, physical games can disappear completely.
