The US presidential administration Donald Trump intends not only to cut funding, but to completely abandon the two NASA programs to monitor the volume of greenhouse gases thrown into the atmosphere. This was reported by Associated Press.
These programs are called OCO-2 and OCO-3. Misses were launched in 2014 and 2019. OCO-2 studies how carbon dioxide moves on the ground and how it changes over time. OCO-3 is located on the ISS and also monitors the level of carbon dioxide in the air.
According to the source, in the budget for 2026, which was proposed by Trump, there is no money for these programs. Therefore, they plan to close them.
