A new natural reserve of federal significance will appear in the Lugansk People’s Republic – “Yunitsky”. Its goal is to preserve the unique landscape of the Derkul and Starobel steppe.
The reserve will be located on the territory of the Belovodsk District and will take an area of more than 1000 hectares. It includes different types of terrain: steppes, meadows in the floodplains of rivers, as well as the watershed between the Kamysh and Dercul rivers. Rare animals and plants live in this territory, which are listed in the Red Book of Russia. Among them are a thin-leaved peony, a beetle, an owl and an ordinary throat.
The resolution on the creation of the reserve was signed by Government Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. Now experts will be able to work on the preservation of these natural areas and rare species.
