The Russian company NTECHLAB is developing a system based on artificial intelligence (AI) for automatic detection of road surface defects. The pilot project is planned to be launched in one of the regions of the country within a month.
The system analyzes video streams from public transport cameras and identifies pits, potholes, absent hatches and damaged fences. If problems are found, the algorithm automatically sends notifications to responsible services to eliminate the shortcomings, the company’s press service noted.
In addition to road defects, AI is able to fix non -working lanterns, damaged road signs, accumulation of garbage in roads and even chips on the facades of buildings. The developers note that the system will help reduce the number of accidents and damage to cars.
NTECHLAB, which is a technological partner of Rostec, specializes in computer vision.
