The press service of the St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University “LETI” reported that university experts have developed a system for detecting cyber attacks on SIM cards. The complex reveals suspicious activity, tracking changes in the energy consumption of mobile devices.
As explained at the university, SIM cards often become the target of attackers, as they provide access to communication and the Internet. The new system consists of four modules: checking data, analysis, management and crypto protection. It automatically detects anomalies in the operation of the device.
According to the younger researcher Anastasia Posomareva, the method allows us to find vulnerabilities before hackers use them. This makes it possible to take protective measures in advance.
The development was performed as part of the university grant project. As the head of the laboratory of Alla Levina noted, the system will be useful to cybersecurity specialists for the prevention of attacks on mobile devices.
