Severstal began the installation of three ball -grinding balls in its production of iron ore pellets in Cherepovets. These mills will become the largest in the world – their diameter is 6.7 meters, and the length exceeds 13 meters.
New equipment is intended for drying and grinding iron ore raw materials using shallow balls. It is necessary to achieve the planned power of the complex – 10 million tons of pellets per year. According to Alexander Shevelev, Director General of Severstal, the installation of mills is the most difficult stage of construction.
In parallel, the site is installed by other technological equipment, modernization of conveyors and the creation of auxiliary infrastructure. At the moment, more than 30% of the metal structures have been completed.
The launch of production is scheduled for the second half of 2027. It will allow the company to switch to more modern and environmentally friendly technologies.
