Divers of the Divo club from the city of Orlov together with scientists of the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences discovered evidence of an ancient trading route on the Oka River in the Kromsky district of the Oryol region. We are talking about Arab silver coins of the VIII-IX centuries, fragments of ceramics, anchor stones, the Byzantine lamp of the XII-XIII centuries and other artifacts.
The region was an important node through which trade routes passed. Found coins and artifacts confirm the activity of trade in this area. A monument related to the siege of Kroma in 1605, and settlements of the Early Nedvyan era, was also found.
Studies will continue using 3D scan, georadar and lidar to create a 3D card of the ancient trading route.
