SpaceX showed gigantic lattice steers for the largest Super Heavy missile

14.08.2025

SpaceX is preparing for the tenth test flight of the Starship missile – the most powerful in the world. It consists of the upper stage of Starship and the first stage of Super Heavy.

The company Mask introduced a new lattice design for Super Heavy. Their area is about 50% more than that of the previous version. To show the scale, SpaceX published a photo with an engineer.

New rudders are not only more, but also stronger. Now on a 71-meter accelerator will install three such rudders instead of four. This will allow the rocket to land at a steeper angle after the StarsHip separation.

Rules help control the flight and are used in the capture maneuver – when a special tower captures the accelerator right in the air before landing. They were also moved below the housing to reduce the heating from Starship engines when separating the steps.

It is expected that the test launch with new rudders will take place this month from the Starbase site to Boka-Chika, Texas.
