Russian science has reached an important line in the field of genetic research. According to the director of the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolai Makarov, the country can now independently conduct large -scale genetic tests without sending samples abroad.
More recently, Russian scientists had to transfer archaeological finds to foreign laboratories. However, now the situation has changed. The first completely domestic project was the study of the genetics of the Scythians, the results of which were published this summer.
Scientists have found that European and Asian Scythians had genetic differences. This discovery became possible thanks to many years of work of archaeologists who collected and maintained bone remains.
Makarov emphasized that the study was carried out exclusively in Russian laboratories. This demonstrates the development of the country’s scientific potential in the field of genetics and archeology.
