Yandex launched the updated version of its service to measure the speed of the Internet connection. The processed “Internet meter” uses a new measurement technology and has received a modern design.
The main change applies to the method of checking the speed. Now the service uses a distributed network of Yandex CDN servers located throughout Russia. This allows you to obtain more accurate data on the real connection speed of a particular user.
The service measures three key parameters: the speed of loading and unloading data, as well as ping. The results are presented in an understandable form with an assessment of the quality of the connection on a five -point scale. For example, the system can suggest whether the speed is enough to watch a video in an HD quality.
Additionally, the Internet shows technical information about the connection: IP address, browser version and other data that can be useful when applying to the provider support service.
In the future, developers plan to release a mobile application and add the function of conducting measurement statistics.
