The Chinese company Biwin showed a new type of mini SSD drive, which is almost like a SIM card in size, but at the same time many times faster than Microsd. Its dimensions are only 15 × 17 × 1.4 mm, and the reading speed reaches 3700 MB/s, records – 3400 MB/s thanks to the PCIe 4 × 2 interface. Versions are available for 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB. For comparison, Microsd Express accelerates to 985 MB/s. At the same time, it is much smaller than the usual SD format.
The connection is planned through a separate slot, as in SIM cards in smartphones-with a sliding tray and stilettos. The device will receive protection against dust and water according to the IP68 standard, as well as withstand a fall from three meters.
The manufacturer offers to use Mini SSD in laptops, tablets, smartphones, cameras and portable consoles. The first devices with such a connector have already been announced: the GPD Win 5 portable and the Onexplayer Super X. laptop.
Prices and the start date of sales have not yet been announced.
