Scientists from Novosibirsk have created the first Russian substances that help the body of animals to better defend against diseases. These substances are called adjuvants and are used in vaccines. Previously, such substances were brought from other countries, but now, due to sanctions, it has become difficult to get. Domestic development is designed to replace imported drugs.
According to TASS, the head of the experimental biology of pathogenic microorganisms of the Research Institute of Virology of the Federal Research Center of Fundamental and Translation Medicine, Alexander Alekseev, told TASS, adjuvans help the body to produce more antibodies that are fighting diseases. Now, French and American adjuvants are used to create animal vaccines around the world. But animals sometimes have side effects from these components.
Russian researchers have developed three types of such substances and are now checking them in the laboratory. These adjuvants are not dangerous for animals. And, most importantly, there were no such substances before in Russia.
Specialists from another scientific center participate in the checks. They will conduct experiments on birds and rodents. And if the experiments are regular, these substances will be tested in a special factory.
This company produces medicines and materials for medicine and veterinary medicine. Scientists agreed with the manufacturer to test new adjuvants. Tests will begin in winter and take several months.
“This is an antibody formation stimulator. Even if the body reacts to some proteins and produces antibodies, the adjuvant will increase activity [выработки]. Our chemists and I decided to submit a project. We have made three adjuvants, now laboratory tests are undergoing. They are completely non -toxic. There are no analogues of such an adjuvant in Russia, ”said Alekseev.
