Google Messages learned to delete sent messages from all recipients

17.08.2025

Google gradually introduces a new function in their Messages: now users can delete sent messages not only from their phone, but also from recipients. Previously, this opportunity was tested in beta versions.

The function works through RCS – a modern message exchange standard that expands the capabilities of conventional SMS. After allocating the message and pressing the basket icon, two options will appear: “Delete for me” and “Delete for everyone”. This applies to both ordinary correspondence and group chats, provided that the interlocutors use Messages with RCS support.

Google constantly develops RCS and was even able to convince Apple to accept this standard into service. Though with the nuances.
