The iPhone 17 Air will be the thinnest among the flagships, overtaking even the fresh Galaxy S25 Edge.
According to insiders and photographs of comparison with “fones”, the thickness of the new Apple smartphone will be only 5.5 mm, while the Galaxy S25 Edge has 5.8 mm. The difference seems minimal, but the figure itself is important for marketing and perception: the iPhone is again “the thinnest”.
However, such a thickness has its own price. And in this case, we are talking about the battery. If the Galaxy S25 EDGE has a 3900 mAh battery, then the iPhone 17 Air, according to rumors, will receive only 2900 mAh.
Apple expects to compensate for it with improved power control in iOS 26, but the tests showed that the Samsung smartphone has been working noticeably longer.

Meanwhile, in 2026, the Galaxy S26 Edge promises to become the same thin – 5.5 mm – but already with a battery of 4300 mAh. This doubts the value of the iPhone 17 Air for users who are important autonomy.
However, Air is focused on aesthetics and lightness, and for “hardcore” Apple users leaves thicker and more capacious versions of Pro and Pro Max.
