The Donald Trump administration is negotiating about the possible acquisition of about 10% of Intel shares. According to sources, a mechanism is discussed in which part of the state grants provided for by the Law on microcircuit and science (Chips Act) can be converted into a share in the chipmaker. In total, Intel allocated $ 10.9 billion for the construction of commercial and military production capacities, as well as access to preferential loans worth up to $ 11 billion.
Preliminary calculations show that the total volume of grants approximately corresponds to the cost of 10% of the share package at the current market estimate of Intel. The exact parameters of a possible transaction have not yet been determined, and the final decision on the part of the administration has not been made. The White House and the Ministry of Trade refused to comment.
In parallel with this, Intel has already received support from the private sector – SoftBank announced the purchase of shares worth $ 2 billion.
