Oracle actively expands its data centers. So, according to Bloomberg, the company will invest tens of billions of dollars in new data processing centers, including Openai support with a capacity of 4.5 gigavatts – energy is enough for “millions of American houses”. But there is a nuance.
The media has attracted special attention to the project in Texas: Oracle plans to spend more than $ 1 billion a year on the power of one data center using gas generators, instead of connecting to a conventional power supply. It is expected that at the end of the center it will become one of the largest, with a computing capacity of 1.4 gigavatts.
But there is a problem: similar projects, for example, the XAI Ilon Mask, have become a source of air pollution due to the operation of turbines on methane. Other large companies, including Google and Microsoft, are experimenting with nuclear energy, although it has its own risks.
