The press service of the advanced engineering oil school of the Higher School of Oil (PINSH IDS) in Almetyevsk reported that university experts developed a device for the installation of fiberglass pipes used in oil production. A patent has already been received for the invention. These pipes are used to transport the oil emulsion, but their inner layer is fragile.
With traditional assembly methods, mechanical damage and leakage often occur. Conventional tools or fitting belts can damage the outer layer of the pipe, which requires high accuracy workers and leads to expensive replacements.
The new device includes movable and motionless clamps with soft rubber elements. They protect the surface of the pipe from direct contact with the metal. The drive of the mechanism twists a pipe with a given torque, which retains the integrity of the product.
According to the developers, this technology excludes installation errors, reduces the work time and increases the life of the pipeline system. The device has no direct analogues and can increase labor productivity in the oil and gas sector.
