The US Products and Medications Office (FDA) issued a warning about the frozen shrimp Great Value brand sold at Walmart. We are talking about the party made by Indonesian PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati (BMS Foods).
According to FDA, one of the supplies of shrimp, detained at the border, contained traces of the radioactive isotope of Cesia-137. Its level was 68 BK/kg, which is still much lower than the permissible norm of 1200 BK/kg. Despite this, the department had doubts in the conditions in which the product was processed and packaged.
It is important to note that there were no infected shrimp on the shelves of stores. However, from the precaution of FDA, three parties with the date of suitability on March 15, 2027 responded. Buyers are recommended to immediately throw away such products.
FDA also added BMS to the list of importers with increased control and prohibited the import of its products until violations are eliminated.
BMS has not yet commented on the situation.
