On Tuesday, a group of current and former Microsoft employees, together with activists, arranged an action at the company’s headquarters in Redmond. The protest took place as part of the No Azure For Apartheid campaign, directed against Microsoft cooperation with Israeli military.
About 50 people gathered in East Campus Plaza. Participants installed tents and artistic installations dedicated to the victims in Gaza. An impromptu “negotiating table” also appeared with a call to the leadership of Microsoft “Sit at the table” and stop partnership with Israel.
The organizers said they will remain in the square until they are expelled by force. Microsoft has not yet given comments.
The shares against the contracts of the company with Israel are not held for the first time. In April, at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Microsoft, the engineers twice interrupted the performances of top managers-the head of Microsoft AI Mustafa Suleiman and the general director of Satia Nadella-demanding to stop the supply of technology Israeli military. Both employees were later fired, the media write.
