Flipper Zero, originally created as a multifunctional gadget for enthusiasts, began to be actively used to hack cars. It is reported that hackers create special programs that turn Flipper into a tool for opening locks of cars.
One of these developers, under the pseudonym Daniel, sells his patches for cryptocurrency. There are two versions: for $ 600, the buyer receives the current version of the program, for $ 1,000 – access to future updates and support. According to him, about 150 people have already acquired such patches. Software works with almost 200 car models, including Subaru, Fiat, Ford, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Peugeot, Citroën, Volkswagen, Skoda and Audi.
Although Daniel introduced measures to protect against illegal copying of its programs, some patches still spread free of charge. Flipper Zero emphasizes that Flipper is designed to test security, and the real problem is outdated car systems.
