Malaysia introduced its first Mars1000 and processor in history

27.08.2025

Malaysia presented its first processor in history for artificial intelligence – Mars1000.

The chip was developed by the local company Skyechip and presented at the industry event with the participation of high -ranking officials.

This solution belongs to the EDGE AI class – processors that are used in devices like cars, robots and household appliances, providing calculations directly “in place”, without accessing cloud servers.

Although the MARS1000 power is not comparable to the NVIDIA flagship accelerators, which are used in data processing centers, the launch of its own AI-Chip was an important step in the development of the country’s technological ambitions.

The Government of Malaysia, led by Anvar Ibrahim, invests at least 25 billion ringgitis (about $ 6 billion) in the development of the semiconductor industry, including the design of chips, factories and the creation of data centers.

However, plans are complicated by the initiatives of the Donald Trump administration to limit the export of AI-Chips to Malaysia and Thailand to prevent their possible re-export to China.
