Minister of Transport Andrei Nikitin in an interview with Russia-24 television channel said that the agency plans to extend the country’s transport strategy until 2050, given the active development of unmanned technologies.
According to him, the strategy will be adjusted taking into account the introduction of highly automated transport systems and unmanned technologies in all areas of transport. The minister emphasized that the order to extend the strategy was given by the Prime Minister. In the coming months, the Ministry of Transport, together with the scientific and transport community, will begin an active discussion of changes.
The development of unmanned vehicles in Russia covers several directions. Among them are completely autonomous trucks that are already testing and traffic along the M-11 and CCAD routes, with plans to enter the M-12 highway. In addition, unmanned passenger trains “Swallow” and trams in St. Petersburg and Moscow are being implemented in the country.
