In the coming years, in 20 settlements of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, power plants will appear working on renewable energy sources. This was announced by the governor of the region Vladislav Kuznetsov at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
The transition to alternative energy is carried out to solve the problem of wear of diesel power plants. In the three villages of the Anadyr district, solar power plants have already been commissioned, which work together with diesel generation. The expected savings of diesel fuel is 73 tons per year.
At the Cape of Observation, 10 wind generator installations with a total capacity of 2.775 MW were installed. Currently, the issue of concluding energy service contracts is being worked out to expand the program for other settlements.
The use of renewable energy sources will not only reduce diesel fuel consumption, but also reduce emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere. The expected reduction in emissions is estimated at 7.6 tons per year.
