Cloudflare said that last weekend successfully reflected the largest DDOS-Ataku in the history of the Internet.
Its capacity reached 11.5 tbit/s – almost 60% more than the previous 7.3 tbit/s record, recorded just a few months earlier.
The attack was a hyper-wide UDP-flood, which lasted about 35 seconds and generated more than 5.1 billion packages per second. The main sources of traffic fell on compromised accounts on Google Cloud and many IOT devices, as well as other cloud services.
According to Cloudflare, their distributed protection network was able to automatically identify and neutralize the threat in real time without the intervention of operators and a noticeable influence on the work of customers.
The company’s experts note an increase in the frequency and capacity of such attacks: only in the II quarter of 2025 did Cloudflare blocked more than 6,500 hyperthic DDOS campaigns, which is many times more than last year.
