In Moscow, artificial intelligence (AI) was introduced to help doctors in the diagnosis of ear and larynx diseases. The development of the system was conducted at the L. I. Sverzhevsky Research Institute.
The new service analyzes endoscopic images, determining the visual signs of diseases. Currently, the algorithm is able to recognize several forms of otitis media, including external, acute and chronic average, as well as neoplasms in the larynx.
It is important to emphasize that artificial intelligence plays only an auxiliary role. The final diagnosis is always made by a specialist who uses these systems as an additional tool.
The pilot project has already been launched on the basis of several medical institutions of the capital. Among them is the Sverzhevsky Institute itself, the diagnostic clinical center No. 1 and the clinical and diagnostic center No. 4.
In the future, developers plan to improve the algorithm to increase the accuracy of analysis and teach it to determine the diseases of the nasal cavity.
