In the fall of 2025, in Russian stores, they will begin to test the system of confirmation of age using biometrics. This will allow customers to purchase goods with age restrictions through self -service cash desks without presenting documents.
The pilot project will be launched in Moscow on the basis of one of the large retail chains. The service is designed to purchase any products requiring age -related confirmation, for example, alcohol or tobacco products.
According to the Center for Biometric Technologies, the system will help reduce service time and free personnel from the need to verify documents. Buyers will preserve the opportunity to choose between the traditional presentation of a passport and biometric identification.
