The annual Christmas Book Fair organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan in Ashgabat attracted wide public interest. The event was attended by the Ambassador of Germany to Turkmenistan, Mr. Bernd Heinze, and Dr. Heinze, who met with visitors of the fair.
In his remarks, Ambassador Bernd Heinze emphasized the spiritual and cultural importance of books in society, stating: “During our annual Christmas Book Fair, the German Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Bernard Heinz, joined us and shared his impressions. Books, dialogue, and cultural exchange bring people closer together.”
The Ambassador and Dr. Heinze spoke with many interested young visitors, answered their questions, and presented the books they had brought. The strong enthusiasm of young people for the books was particularly noteworthy — many of the presented publications were quickly taken.
The book fair not only offered readers new works but also contributed to strengthening cultural ties between Europe and Turkmenistan. Literature, historical works, and cultural publications from various countries were showcased, providing broad opportunities for participants.
It was also noted that in 2024, 65,717 new books were published in Germany, reflecting the strong development of the country’s publishing sector and its attention to readers.
Participants emphasized that such events help deepen cultural cooperation between the two countries and increase the interest of Turkmen youth in world literature.
