FLEX is a cultural exchange program funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and administered in Turkmenistan by American Councils for International Education. The program offers Turkmen high school students the opportunity to live with a host family in the United States and study at an American high school for one academic year.
Who is eligible to apply?
Students born between January 1, 2009, and May 31, 2010 are eligible to participate. However, senior-year students who are required to enter mandatory military service are not eligible.
Eligible applicants must:
currently be enrolled in school and have a strong academic record;
demonstrate good English language skills;
meet the requirements to obtain a U.S. visa;
be citizens of Turkmenistan.
