Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the country’s progress in digital development and set new priority tasks for 2026. According to the president, the future of Uzbekistan’s economic growth depends heavily on expanding the digital economy, supporting innovative initiatives, and fully transitioning government services to electronic formats.
During the meeting, the rapid growth of the digital economy was highlighted. Uzbekistan aims to increase IT service exports, expand digital payment systems, and modernize telecommunications infrastructure. The expansion of 5G networks and improved access to fiber‑optic internet were identified as key pillars of the nation’s digital progress.
President Mirziyoyev also introduced new objectives for strengthening the startup ecosystem. The number of innovation centers, technoparks, and IT academies for young people will be increased. The goal is to create thousands of internationally competitive startups by 2026.
Expanding the e‑government system was another major priority. The president instructed that all government services must be made 100% accessible online, all paper documents must be digitized, and citizens’ interactions with government agencies must be simplified.
The role of artificial intelligence technologies was emphasized as well. Uzbekistan plans to create a national AI platform, expand the use of AI in public administration, and strengthen international cooperation in this field.
According to Mirziyoyev, 2026 should mark a new stage in Uzbekistan’s digital transformation. The digital economy, AI, telecommunications, and the startup ecosystem are becoming the main drivers of the country’s economic growth.
