The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan, Gismat Gozalov, met with Davud Orazsahedov, Director of the Magtumguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan reported this.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the fraternal and strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan reached a new stage of development in 2025 as a result of the political will of the leaders of both countries. The sides highlighted the growing intensity of mutual high-level and senior-level visits and contacts.
It was noted that within the framework of the Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation, collaboration in the cultural and humanitarian fields has been consistently expanded, joint projects have been implemented, and the bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the two peoples have been further strengthened.
The meeting participants recalled that the Days of Turkmen Culture were held in Azerbaijan in 2025, and that the organization of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Turkmenistan is planned for 2026.
The sides also underscored that cooperation in the fields of science and education constitutes one of the key pillars of bilateral relations. In this context, the importance of reciprocal visits as well as the deepening of institutional cooperation between the scientific institutions of the two countries was particularly emphasized.
Special attention was paid to the significance of joint research on the legacy of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy. It was noted that his works have always been met with great interest in Azerbaijan, translated into Azerbaijani, and published. In this regard, the presentation ceremony of Magtymguly Pyragy’s poetry collection “Fell in Love” in Azerbaijani and Turkmen languages, held last year in Ashgabat, was recalled. It was also highlighted that the Magtymguly Pyragy Center for Turkmen Literature began its activities at the ANAS in 2025.
The parties noted that the cooperation documents signed between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in the fields of science and education have yielded practical results. They discussed the implementation of joint scientific programs between higher education institutions and research institutes, the organization of joint conferences and symposiums, the exchange of young researchers, and the preparation of joint scientific publications.
In particular, the importance of expanding cooperation between the Muhammad Fuzuli Institute of Manuscripts of ANAS and the Magtumguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences was emphasized, including through joint research, exchange of manuscripts, digitization initiatives, and joint publications.
Additionally, opportunities to strengthen cooperation and implement joint projects within the frameworks of UNESCO, TURKSOY, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, and the Turkic Academy were also discussed.
