Ten years of ongoing armed conflict in Yemen continue to cause severe social consequences. According to UNICEF and other international organizations, during this period 4.5 million children have been deprived of the opportunity to attend school. This figure is considered one of the most alarming indicators for the country’s future.

New Opportunities Through International Support
Thanks to projects implemented by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), Save the Children, UNICEF Yemen, the World Food Programme (WFP), and the Middle East and North Africa division of the World Bank, several schools in the Ash Shamayatayn district of Yemen have resumed their work.
Today these schools are welcoming:
- children forced to leave their homes,
- students who had long remained outside the education system.
Through the joint efforts of international organizations, schools are being rebuilt, teachers are being trained, and a safe learning environment is being created.

Protecting Children’s Future — A Key Task
Despite the ongoing crisis in the country, measures to support the education system bring hope to thousands of families. Experts note that returning children to school is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also an important step toward psychological support, safety, and a more stable future.
The projects in Ash Shamayatayn are part of large-scale international assistance aimed at restoring the education system in Yemen.
