How to determine if your PC is infected with viruses

18.06.2024

As the publication notes, the user should pay attention to notifications from antivirus or system utilities. Even if an erroneously detected application is identified, checking your PC never hurts.

However, a clear sign of a PC infection is an overload of the processor, memory, and video card “from scratch”: the user may not turn on any “heavy” applications, but the computer can work at 100%, and in the background. This happens when the device is infected with miners, email viruses that send spam on behalf of the victim, etc.

Against the backdrop of such moments, it is important to pay attention to the webcam of your laptop or PC. If the computer is infected, the camera can be automatically activated, even though the user did not turn it on.

On an infected PC, applications may suddenly crash or slow down. This also includes pop-ups and randomly opening applications.

There are no clear-cut tips to correct this situation. As a rule, if the computer is clearly infected, it is advised to remove the OS and reinstall a “clean” system. This often helps.
