On November 26, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with the Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), Umberto de Pretto, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit. The parties discussed the possibilities of implementing mechanisms to simplify transit customs procedures and accelerate cargo flows, according to the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The interlocutors discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in 2025, declared by the UN General Assembly resolution as the International Year of Peace and Trust, particularly within the framework of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in the Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) next year.
Additionally, Rashid Meredov and Umberto de Pretto agreed to continue cooperation within multilateral formats, including the development of the legal framework for interaction.
