China Sends Cloud Computing Platform Based on Loongson CPU into Space

28.11.2024

Star Eye is equipped with advanced radiation monitoring tools, remote sensing capabilities, and a set of computing functions. Loongson reported that the payload included data processing, storage, and transmission systems, as well as thermal regulation and power management functions—everything necessary for performing cloud computing in orbit.

Although the company did not specify which processor models are used, its chips employ a proprietary instruction set architecture (ISA) that combines compatibility with MIPS and elements of RISC-V.
