Applications in Google Play with the SpyLoan virus have been downloaded 8 million times. Check your device

03.12.2024

SpyLoan applications lure users with false promises of quick loans. After installation, they request confidential data: IDs, bank details, and even access to SMS, location, and contact lists.

The most downloaded applications are Préstamo Seguro-Rápido and Préstamo Rápido-Credit Easy, each of which has been downloaded more than 1 million times. Other applications target users in Thailand, Indonesia, and Senegal.

Despite Google’s security checks, applications with SpyLoan continue to bypass protection measures. McAfee urges users to review app permissions, check developer reputations, and enable Google Play Protect.
